Frequently asked questions
Receiving one-on-one guidance from an experienced specialist is one of the most effective ways of improving fast. Just look to the world of sport or business. Olympic athletes and top executives have a dedicated personal coach. So why not get your child an academic mentor to guide their studying?
As a parent, you’ll know that teenagers don’t always listen to your guidance and advice. We’ve found they are much more responsive to a relatable role-model like a mentor. We’ve seen our mentors come alongside students, shift their perspective, and rebuild their confidence step by step.
Our previous students say our programs provided the learning experiences they struggled to find elsewhere. These experiences include:
- Quick responses to tough Maths problems via WhatsApp
- Interactive group webinars via Google Meets/MS Teams
- Personalised weekly mentoring sessions via Google Meets/MS Teams
- Maths exam skills development via continuous assessment with focussed feedback cycles
- Frequent communication with parents and guardians
Private mentoring is best for those who need individual attention and support.
Mentoring sessions are always focused on your own development and learning needs. We will tailor the sections covered to the requirements of your school calendar. In this way we will cover the syllabus as your school does. In comparison in a group (cohort) mentoring the focus is on the team, and the benefits of group learning.
We support each student towards gaining an understanding of the Maths syllabus, via specific focus areas. These learning cohorts last for 4-8 weeks, and we repeat topics during the year.
Cohort mentoring is best suited to students who learn best via social engagement. In this way they learn via hearing outside perspectives – driving a deeper level of understanding.
You can always choose the best of both; reach out to us via WhatsApp and we would be happy to discuss your options.
Our pricing plans for private mentoring ranges from R450 to R3000 per student per month.
Our pricing for the 4-to-8-week cohorts ranges from R1200 to R2400 per student. It is during the onboarding discussion that we will settle on the right combination of value-added services for your child.
We usually communicate with parents and guardians via WhatsApp and email correspondence.
During the onboarding process we will engage you on your preferences for communication.
The nature of the private mentoring relationship is adaptable. We understand that life (and loadshedding) can and will happen.
As such there will be no penalty to not being available for a particular planned timeslot.
Our mentors will reschedule the session as soon as possible, with an understanding of the student’s schedule.
As those parents who have partnered with us would share – we have been able to help their children:
- Remain focussed and motivated during the full academic year
- Complete homework and assessments on time
- Feel prepared for their tests and exams, allowing them to be calm during this period
- Enjoy the learning process and thus improve their marks
To get started, please can you fill in the Find a Mentor form. Thereafter one of our leaders will schedule a follow up call to discuss how we could meet your and your child’s learning needs.

We use either Google Meets/ MS Teams to conduct our mentoring sessions. Lastly, we use Google Classroom as a Learning Management System for the storage of educational content.

This is to ensure the discipline necessary to complete the mini syllabus in the 6-week program. We record all our sessions, and we require student to recap the lesson in their own time.
Once the student has done so, they like all other students who attended can reach out to mentors for further support.
