MATHS MENTOR
About us
At Maths Mentor, we’ve set out to change the way students learn Maths in South Africa—and we’re doing it by providing a unique approach to mentoring. We believe that every student deserves individualized support, and that learning is an ongoing process, not a one-time event.
Our model is simple: we provide expert mentors who use knowledge management processes and strategies to help students achieve their goals by transferring their knowledge in an active and engaging way. We provide this support in both private mentoring and cohort based mentoring programs.
Our team comprises of experienced professionals who are passionate about seeing students succeed. We have an incredible track record of success with a range of students and tailor our efforts around the specific goals of each student.
We know that content delivery is evolving, especially in education. This means that there are times when you might not be able to find the exact resource or information you need when you need it most—even if a teacher has already told you what you need! That’s why our value-added services provide just-in-time support for your specific questions 24/7.
OUR VALUES
At Maths Mentor, we believe success goes beyond marks. Our values guide every session, ensuring students grow in confidence, resilience, and independence while excelling in maths.

MATHS MENTOR
WHO WE ARE
Maths Mentor was founded by husband and wife, Cameron and Lee-Anne Pitman. Both of our founders have completed post graduate studies and can look back at very different high school experiences. They understand that reaching your academic goals in high school (particularly in Maths) is a springboard for the rest of your life.
At Maths Mentor we focus on providing the best experiences to fulfil the overlapping needs of students, parents and mentors alike. Cameron and Lee-Anne ensure that every student is supported by trusted, qualified mentors.
While our vetted mentors deliver the lessons, Cameron and Lee-Anne focus on developing the mentoring model, maintaining high standards, and creating a values-driven community that helps students thrive.
Cameron Pitman
Meet Cameron Pitman, the founder of Maths Mentor and the academic heart of our programme.
His journey started in matric (2008), when he realised the best way to study maths was to teach it to others. That belief, inspired by Einstein’s famous quote — “If you can’t explain it simply, you don’t understand it well enough.” — still guides Maths Mentor today.
After completing a BSc. Eng (Mechanical) and a Master’s in Leadership Studies at UKZN, Cameron combined strategic thinking with a passion for education, developing a mentorship model that’s helped hundreds of learners across South Africa.
Now, through Maths Mentor, his mission is to scale that impact and build resilience in every student we mentor.
“We strive to mentor resilience into our students, empowering them to move towards their academic ambitions.”
Lee-Anne Pitman
Meet Lee-Anne Pitman, founder of Maths Mentor alongside Cameron Pitman.
She brings a new perspective to the learning journey that we implement at Maths Mentor. Lee-Anne was home-educated along with her siblings and experienced firsthand how a non-traditional approach to education fosters curiosity, independence and deeper learning.
Lee-Anne completed a MBChB at the University of Pretoria and is currently pursuing a specialization in Paediatics at the University of Stellenbosch. Her medical career reflects her deep passion for nurturing and guiding others, values that she brings into the educational world through her leadership at Maths Mentor.
Lee-Anne’s role at Maths Mentor is rooted in empathy, clarity, and connection. Her focus is to ensure that our students are equipped with what they need to reach their goals in Maths and beyond, embodying the company’s purpose:
“To be the navigation our customers need along their learning journey.
